I just heard on National Public Radio that author Madeleine L’Engle passed away Thursday at the age of 88. When I was a seventh grade English teacher, we read “A Wrinkle in Time” every year. It stimulated the kids imaginations, sparked some great classroom conversations, and I never grew tired of reading it again and again.
Today, as a school librarian, I remembered that two of my four library copies of the book were checked out just this past week. One of them was checked out on Thursday. I, of course, have no idea what time Ms. L’Engle officially left Camazotz for a better world Thursday, but I like to think that just as she was leaving, another young girl was just starting to get acquainted with Meg Murray….
